I'd be interested to see what you make of DataScript - I was very impressed with it...
In fact, in the early preparation stages for this talk I actually had something close what you describe in your post.
I put the datascript database in an input cell on the front end, and ran transactions against it as if it was the backend datomic database. Everything was done on the client. It worked a treat!
I just had to listen for the transaction reports and
reset! the cell every time some new data arrived.
In the end I cut that from the presentation as I wanted to cover the server side component too...but I like that approach a lot.
